Ben remembers a student who played a self-written melody on the guitar for the first time — a bit rough, a little off-key, but with a look on his face that said everything. That’s exactly why he teaches. For Ben, playing guitar and singing isn’t a matter of talent — it’s a matter of trusting yourself. And building that trust is just as important to him as any technical exercise.
Ben has been playing guitar and singing for over 15 years — on stages, in studios, alongside other musicians. He is currently deepening his craft through his studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (HMTMH). This combination of years of hands-on experience and academic grounding is what makes his lessons stand out: theory you can hear immediately, technique that actually makes sense.
In lessons with Ben, there are no rigid curricula and no boxes to fit into. Jazz lovers learn jazz. Those who want to write pop songs — write songs. Those who simply want to play and sing, without pressure and without any goal beyond the joy of music, are just as welcome. Ben works as happily with beginners as with advanced students, because he finds the same thing in both: the moment when something suddenly clicks.
What happens in lessons: first, we look at what you can already do — and build on exactly that. Breathing technique for vocals, fretting and rhythm on guitar, understanding harmony at the instrument. Those who want to can also learn to write their own songs, develop arrangements, and take their first steps in music production. Some students arrive saying “I’m completely unmusical” — and a few months later they’re performing in front of an audience.
| “I approach every person individually — because everyone learns differently and every voice, every hand is different. My goal isn’t to produce perfect technique, but to spark the joy of making music and help each student find their own artistic voice.” |
Ben teaches guitar, vocals, composition and music theory — for children, teenagers and adults, from the very first chord to performing on stage. As a live musician he has collaborated with various artists, and his band Kitchen Sunrise won the 2024 Lower Saxony title at the Local Heroes band competition. Studying with Ben means learning from someone who doesn’t just teach music — he lives it.
